Price the risk, not the person
Two customers with the same repayment capacity get the same rate, whether they walk in wearing a suit or come from a village weekly market.
A Non-Banking Financial Company built for the borrower that conventional credit scoring quietly leaves behind.
Nawkar Finance Limited was incorporated in 2016 and holds a Certificate of Registration from the Reserve Bank of India as a non-deposit-taking Non-Banking Financial Company.
We started from a simple observation. A shopkeeper in Nashik turning over ₹40 lakh a year, settling every supplier on time for a decade, was being refused a ₹3 lakh working capital loan — because she did not maintain audited books in the format a credit model expected. The risk was never the problem. The evidence format was.
So we built our underwriting around the evidence such customers actually have: bank credits, UPI settlements, GST filings, purchase invoices, and the gold and property sitting idle in their homes. Ten years later that approach has put ₹412 crore into the hands of 1.2 lakh households and small businesses.
We are not a marketplace and we are not an app that hands you to somebody else. We underwrite, we lend our own book, and we service the loan to its last instalment. If something goes wrong, there is exactly one company to hold responsible, and it is us.
These are not slogans. Each one maps to a clause in our board-approved Fair Practices Code and to something a branch manager can be held accountable for.
Two customers with the same repayment capacity get the same rate, whether they walk in wearing a suit or come from a village weekly market.
Every charge is disclosed before signature, in the customer's own language, on a single page they keep.
Recovery calls happen between 8 AM and 7 PM, never to a customer's employer or relatives, and never with a raised voice. This is a written rule, and it is enforced.
A loan that stretches a household past breaking point is a bad loan, however good the security. We say no when the answer should be no.
Steady growth, funded by our own book and by bank lines — never by public deposits, which as an NBFC we are not permitted to accept.
Incorporated in Mumbai and granted a Certificate of Registration by the Reserve Bank of India as a non-deposit-taking NBFC.
First 10 branches opened across Maharashtra and Gujarat; gold loan product launched at the counter.
Moratorium relief extended to 14,000 customers through the pandemic without a single coercive recovery action.
Cash-flow underwriting model rolled out for MSME borrowers, opening credit to shopkeepers without audited financials.
Crossed ₹250 crore in cumulative disbursals and expanded to 11 states.
64 branches, 1.2 lakh customers served, and ₹412 crore disbursed to date.
